Reason #3496 To Cook at da Crib!

What are natural flavors? (from Healthline, 2024)

According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Code of Federal Regulations, natural flavors are created from substances extracted from these plant or animal sources (1).  In my opinion, most companies that list the words "natural flavors" are likely to use animal in their products.  Otherwise, they'd be happy to tell you its an actual plant or herb that is more beneficial to your body than not, right??

  • spices
  • fruit or fruit juice
  • vegetables or vegetable juice
  • edible yeast, herbs, bark, buds, root leaves, or plant material
  • dairy products, including fermented products
  • meat, poultry, or seafood
  • eggs

These flavors can be obtained by heating or roasting the animal or plant material.

In addition, manufacturers are increasingly using enzymes to extract flavor compounds from plant sources to help meet the demand for natural flavors (2Trusted Source).

Natural flavors are meant to enhance flavor, not necessarily to contribute nutritional value to a food or beverage.

These flavorings are extremely common in foods and beverages.

In fact, research suggests they are the fourth most common ingredient on food labels (3Trusted Source).

Here is the article to inform you of what Natural Flavors truly are!  Feel free to google more articles are there is always more than one source.

What other products contain "Natural Flavors"?

-Simply Orange (aint that simple!)
-Numerous Breads
-Coffee Creamers
-Some water (including those labeled Alkaline Water - so just drink SPRING Water)
-Yogurts
-....and sooooooo much more!!

But, I gotcha back! I'm never gonna give you the bad without providing a replacement.  See below!

An Alkaline-Electric version of a true-healthy Shamrock Shake!
Ingredients
1 cup alkaline-electric yogurt
1/3 avocado
1/2 cup kale
1 tsp rosemary
1/2 cup ice or more!

Topping
2 tablespoons whipped cream coconut whipped cream (optional)
2 cherries fresh, pitted

Instructions
Combine all of the ingredients except for the topping in a blender and blend until smooth. Add a little bit of water or extra ice cubes if needed to get to your desired consistency.

Pour into two separate glasses and add a dollop of coconut whipped cream.
Place a cherry on top and enjoy!

I personally do NOT recommend rejuvenex mentioned in the video to make alkaline-electric yogurt as probiotics (or the good bacteria should come from a healthy gut...which comes from eating electric). It's not that simple however, so let me know if you want more info on this later.
